Kanomax Piezobalance Dust Monitor Model 3521/3522
The piezobalance measuring system for the Kanomax Piezobalance Dust Monitor Model 3521/3522 utilizes a weighing system to monitor the particulates in the air. Conversely, conventional dust monitors operate by counting the particulates within a sample. The piezobalance system eliminates the need for the gravimetric sampling that is required of conventional dust monitors. The science behind such a technological advancement is truly unique. Because of this technology, the device is user friendly and easy to operate with very little (or no) training.
The Science of Piezobalance
In general, air samples enter the device and travel through to the impactor. This particular part of the instrument segregates and removes larger particles from the air sample. The remaining smaller particulates are then electrically charged. Once charged, they are placed on the piezo-crystal. The totality of the deposited mass affects the crystal’s frequency, and the change in frequency is proportional to the mass of the particulates. From this proportionality, the actual weight of the particulates can be obtained. The science stands alone and the device does not require additional training for proper operation.
The Kanomax Piezobalance Dust Monitor Model 3521/3522 Features
This particular dust monitor model has several unique features. The unit measures PM10, respirable particle matters, or PM 2.5 particle matters (such as dust, oil mist, fumes, and soot). The device shows real time measurements of dust concentration. This model comes standard with an easy to use PC interface with RS232C and software for data transfer to a PC. The unit has data logging capabilities of up to 500 measurements that can be viewed either on the screen or through a PC. It also has an easy cleaning mechanism for low maintenance functioning.
Specifications, Inclusions, and Applications
The Kanomax Piezobalance Dust Monitor Model 3521/3522 is lightweight (3.9 pounds) and compact (dimensions of 2.6 x 7.1 x 5.9 inches). It measures particles within the range of .01 to 10 mg/m3 with a flow rate of 1 liter per minute. It can use a power source of Ni-MH batter or AC 100 to 240 volts. The monitor is suitable for use in a variety of applications such as internal air quality investigations, industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety requirements, product quality control, laboratory research, and more. Additionally, the dust monitor comes standard with the following included accessories:
- Data processing software
