StrikeGuard offers complete protection for a Host computer, network or control system in a ground loop, environmental ESD and/or lightning prone environment. The system consists of a 20 foot (6.1 meter) weatherproof RS232 serial cable, two optical modems and 65 feet (20 meters) of full duplex optical fiber cable.

The serial cable is connected between the WeatherHawk serial I/O and one optical modem. The optical fiber cable is connected between the optical modems, and the other optical modem is connected to the Host PC, server or control system. The optical modems draw their power from the supported devices and do not require an external power source.

Optical modems must be installed in non-condensing, weatherproof environments.
