BW and the Environment: Going Green and Staying Yellow

As more and more importance is being placed on the environment and ways to reduce, reuse and recycle, BW Technologies is looking for ways to go green.

Currently, our unpopulated PCB boards inside the detectors are RoHS compliant. Lead-free parts are always chosen, when available. BW is moving towards finished PCB boards being completely lead-free and RoHS certified.

Customers are encouraged to return their old detectors to BW for recycling. All detectors are disassembled and then recycled or destroyed in an environmentally friendly and secure manner.

Plastic canisters are no longer used to ship product. Instead, BW now uses brown boxes which are easier to stack and ship. The brown boxes contain between 20 to 50% recycled content.

GasAlertClip Extreme detectors can be purchased in a 50-unit bulk package, and the GasAlertMicroClips are available in 10-unit bulk packages. For an environmentally friendly choice that creates less packaging, is easy for distribution and space efficiency, bulk packaging is a great option.

Another great way to reduce waste is the use of training CDs instead of training manuals. If manuals need to be printed onsite, duplex (or printing on both sides) is always encouraged to minimize waste.

Datasheets are one of the materials that BW Technologies continues to print; however, all of our datasheets are printed on FSC certified paper. The FSC, or Forestry Stewardship Council, is an international certification and labelling system for products. Certification verifies products come from responsibly managed forest and authentically recycled sources.

From production to marketing to engineering, BW Technologies is trying to eliminate waste and look for ways to recycle. Lean manufacturing not only reduces wasted streams on our production floor, but throughout the company.

Make confined space entry quick and simple. The Deluxe Confined Space Kits are designed to provide all the accessories necessary to safely sampling and effectively monitor for atmospheric hazards during confined space entry work.

Product Information

GasAlertMicro 5 Series: New Version Batteries

New PCBs have been developed for the GasAlertMicro 5 Series instruments, including:

• GasAlertMicro 5
• GasAlertMicro 5 PID
• GasAlertMicro 5 IR

Now, all instruments shipped since August 7, 2008 can use the same batteries.

Batteries

The rechargeable and alkaline battery packs can be swapped freely between all convergence GasAlertMicro 5 Series instruments. Convergence GasAlertMicro 5 Series instruments are compatible with:

• Rechargeable battery packs (M5-BAT08)
• Alkaline battery packs (M5-BAT05)

Please note that M5-BAT07(-B) is only for use with old GasAlertMicro 5 and GasAlertMicro 5 PID instruments, and never for use with a GasAlertMicro 5 IR or convergence GasAlertMicro 5 Series instruments. Customers with older units must still order older-style batteries. Non-convergence style battery packs will be in production for the next 12 months. After this time, the demand will be reassessed. Chargers and MicroDock II GasAlertMicro 5 Series modules are all backwards compatible.

GasAlertMax XT Update: New Firmware Available

New firmware is currently available for the GasAlertMax XT. To download version 4.000, please go to www.gasmonitors.com. The new firmware includes various improvements including display options and auto zeroing sensors.

2009 Price List
