GasAlertMax XT
BW Technologies by Honeywell announces the arrival of the latest portable multi-gas solution ? the compact, comfortable and field tough GasAlertMax XT.
Durable and rugged, the GasAlertMax XT offers simultaneous monitoring for:
- Hydrogen sulfide (H2S)
- Carbon monoxide (CO)
- Oxygen (O2)
- Combustibles (%LEL)
The GasAlertMax XT features an integrated sampling pump. Equipped with SmartSample technology, the GasAlertMax XT?s powerful diaphragm pump saves time with reliable pump block detection.
One Button Operation
By offering one-button operation, the GasAlertMax XT provides ease of use and simple compliance to industry safety standards. With the push of the button, the GasAlertMax XT starts up and begins a self-test, automatically verifying proper operation of visible, audible and vibrating alarms, sensors, battery and pump.
Flexible User Options
Tamper-proof, user adjustable options enable the user to customize the instrument to suit specifi c applications. Eliminating pushbutton menu navigation, the GasAlertMax XT connects to a computer using the IR Connectivity Kit to access user-defi nable options. Powered by a rechargeable battery pack that provides runtime for an entire 13 hour shift, the compact GasAlertMax XT comes with standard event logging and datalogging. Calibration is simple with an automatic procedure.
The GasAlertMax XT is ideally suited to a range of applications and customers including oil and gas, marine and shipping, utilities, wastewater treatment plants, power generation, municipal needs, and confined space entry. BW?s confined space kit is designed to provide the user with all the accessories needed to safely and effectively monitor for potential atmospheric gas hazards in confined space entry applications. The GasAlertMax XT makes confined space entry quick and simple.
Customize your detector to suit specific applications and maximize performance with a wide variety of accessories.
Feature Accessory
Concussion-Proof Boot for additional protection in extreme conditions
The Concussion-Proof Boot slips easily and securely onto the detector for additional protection in extreme conditions. Equipped with a rugged stainless steel, alligator clip, the external rubber boot also helps keep the detector clean.
Available for:
- GasAlertClip Extreme
- GasAlert Extreme
- GasAlertMicro 5 Series (Pumped and non-pumped)
- GasAlertMax XT
Note that the boot must be removed to place the detectors in the MicroDock II system and to access the GasAlertMicro 5 Series diff usion/pump cover. To place GasAlertMicro 5 Series detectors in the cradle charger and to gain battery access, partially remove the boot. To gain access to the GasAlert Extreme and GasAlertMax XT battery, also partially remove the boot.

Product Information
GasAlertMax Discontinuation
Over the past year, due to the reduced supply of several critical components, the BW Technologies by Honeywell sourcing team (with the assistance of the Honeywell sourcing team) has been engaged in a global search for several components to maintain the product line. Unfortunately a power supply connector has become obsolete worldwide. This connector is used on every version of the GasAlertMax instrument.
BW Technologies by Honeywell will continue to offer full customer service, technical support, spare and replacement parts (or equivalent) on the GasAlertMax for the duration of at least 2 years after this notice.
Please contact your local BW Sales Representative to discuss other pumped detector options, including the GasAlertMicro 5 Series instruments and the GasAlertMax XT.
GasAlertMicro 5 Series: GasAlertMax Alternative
Simultaneously monitor and display up to five potential atmospheric hazards. The GasAlertMicro 5 PID model also identifies PID detectable VOCs, while the GasAlertMicro 5 IR uses an NDIR sensor to monitor CO2 levels. A motorized pump option is available on all GasAlertMicro 5 Series detectors.
The newly released GasAlertMax XT can also be an alternative solution to the GasAlertMax.
Rig Rat III: Stand-Alone Gas Detection
The Rig Rat III is a rugged multi-point wireless gas detection system that monitors for toxic gases, combustibles and oxygen hazards. Self-powered and solar-capable, the Rig Rat III featured unequalled versatility with a range of field configurations. The Rig Rat III represents the benchmark in stand-alone gas detection with its real-time, two-way digital data transmission and remote sensing capabilities. Trenching and cabling costs are eliminated and maintenance-free sensors reduce costly maintenance requirements.
The Rig Rat III features:
- Completely modular system with plug-in ports for remote sensors and a full line of external alarms and options
- Real-time digital data transmission for each sensor
- Intrinsically safe, weatherproof, stainless steel enclosure
- Total system fl exibility ? add, change or reconfi gure system as required
- Continuous two-way communication between controller and remotely located detectors
- Comprehensive alarms and displays, with built-in alarm light, loud audible alarm buzzer and status panel
GasAlertMicro 5 Series: Convergence Project
New PCBs have been developed for the GasAlertMicro 5 Series instruments, including:
- GasAlertMicro 5
- GasAlertMicro 5 PID
- GasAlertMicro 5 IR
GasAlertMicro 5 Series instruments will no longer have multiple PCBs. Formerly, PID sensors were selftested on start-up. PID sensors will now be continually tested which will mitigate PID failure on start-up. The convergence instruments began shipping on August 7, 2008.
Batteries
The rechargeable and alkaline battery packs can be swapped freely between all convergence GasAlertMicro 5 Series instruments. Convergence GasAlertMicro 5 Series instruments are compatible with:
- Rechargeable battery packs (M5-BAT08)
- Alkaline battery packs (M5-BAT05)
Please note that M5-BAT07(-B) is only for use with old GasAlertMicro 5 and GasAlertMicro 5 PID instruments, and never for use with a GasAlertMicro 5 IR or convergence GasAlertMicro 5 Series instruments. Customers with older units must still order older-style batteries. Non-convergence style battery packs will be in production for the next 12 months. After this time, the demand will be reassessed. Chargers and MicroDock II GasAlertMicro 5 Series modules are all backwards compatible.
Firmware
The latest firmware updates for older-style GasAlertMicro 5 Series instruments are 16C and 16D. The new firmware for convergence instruments is 28D. This firmware will only be compatible with the new boards.
Important Label Note
The current version of the M5-BAT08 is labelled as M5IR-BAT08. This is to meet a current certification requirement. We are in process of updating the certification file to standardize on the M5-BAT08 order number and labelling. The important point is that there are NO performance, certifi cation or compatibility issues with using the M5-BAT08 battery pack on ALL versions of the Converged GasAlertMicro 5 instruments with product revision number 3. That revision number is evident in the serial numbering prefi x, which will say for instance, SK308-123456 etc.
