Is this probe waterPROOF. Can it be submerged up to 18 inches without damaging it?

This product is not waterproof. You would be looking for an immersion probe which can be 12" if that would help. The part number is 0602-0593 and you can view it here: http://www.jjstech.com/0602-0593.html
