Protection from combustible gases
In areas where combustible gases are produced, consumed, or stored gas / air mixtures can unexpectedly build up to explosive levels. An early warning for combustible gases is the safest way to avoid life and property threatening environments. Fixed gas detection systems allow early recognition of combustible gases around the clock. A fixed gas monitoring system consists of one or more remote sensors transmitting measurements to a controller.
Detection principle
The detection principle for the measurement of combustible gases in the LEL range is catalytic combustion (CC). The catalytic combustion sensor element is heated. When a combustible gas or vapor comes in to contact with the sensor, the flammable components of the gas are burned on the sensor, changing its electrical resistance. The change in resistance is proportional to the gas concentration. To ensure stable measurement signals, all GfG remote sensors have integrated electronic circuits for voltage stabilization, signal transmission, and temperature compensation.
Remote sensor
The remote sensor is the key component of a gas detection system. This is why GfG Instrumentation gives high priority to the development of gas detection technology and has been a leader in the industry for over 40 years.
